In-clinic surgical removal of skin lesions, lumps, and growths — performed by doctors at Fluid Medical.
At Fluid Medical we do not shy away from cutting things off and out of you - as matter of fact we love to do it! If the lesion or lump is very large or deep or in a sensitive place we may have to refer you to a plastic surgeon. If this is the case you will not be charged a consultation fee. We use sharp and blunt dissection, as well as cryotherapy and cautery to remove lesions.
Skin lesions, lumps, and growths are incredibly common — and while many are entirely benign, having them properly assessed and removed by a doctor gives you both peace of mind and a clean clinical result. At Fluid Medical, minor surgical procedures are performed in-clinic by qualified doctors, using the same techniques and standards applied in a hospital setting.
We assess and treat a wide range of skin lesions and superficial lumps, including:
All lesions are assessed before any procedure is recommended. Where there is any clinical concern about a lesion's appearance or behaviour, appropriate referral or histological analysis is arranged.
We use a range of established surgical techniques depending on the nature, size, and location of the lesion:
Surgical excision — sharp and blunt dissection to cleanly remove lesions and lumps with precision, minimising scarring and ensuring complete removal.
Cryotherapy — targeted freezing of superficial lesions using liquid nitrogen, commonly used for warts, verrucae, and selected skin growths.
Cautery — controlled heat application to remove or destroy superficial lesions and achieve haemostasis during excision procedures.
The appropriate technique is selected based on your specific lesion, skin type, and the location of the growth — ensuring the best possible outcome with minimal disruption to surrounding tissue.
Not every lesion is suitable for in-clinic removal. If a lesion is particularly large, deeply situated, or located in a sensitive anatomical area, we will refer you to a plastic surgeon for specialist management — ensuring you receive the right level of care for your specific situation.
Importantly, if a referral is required, you will not be charged a consultation fee. We believe in transparent, patient-first care — and that means not charging for a consultation that results in a referral rather than treatment.
Minor surgical procedures at Fluid Medical are performed under local anaesthetic, meaning the area is numbed before any work begins. Most procedures are completed within a single appointment and involve minimal downtime. Post-procedure care instructions are provided, and follow-up is arranged where appropriate — including suture removal and wound review.
Excised lesions can be sent for histological analysis where clinically indicated, providing certainty about the nature of what was removed.
